Influence of an impeller inlet diameter on operation of a high-speed submersible electric pump at the high flow rate modes

BACKGROUND: The study object is a high-speed drainage submersible electric pump, aimed to water polluted sea and fresh bailing out of drowned rooms shipbuilding industry facilities.
 AIMS: To obtain dependencies pump cavitation properties on relative diameter an impeller inlet at the high flow rate modes, determine kind head-capacity energy for various geometrical ratios in operational range.
 METHODS: Main impellers were determined with use semi-empirical formulas authors methods. For dependencies, three options chosen series fluid dynamic simulations three-dimensional viscous ANSYS CFX software completed.
 RESULTS: Head-capacity, pumping unit obtained. experimental curve correlates simulated one. simulation results revealed that using narrowed leads generation wide low-pressure area backside vane disruption curves modes. With biggest inlet, vapor pressure absent so there no however, hydraulic efficiency ratio whole range lowest among all studied impellers.
 CONCLUSIONS: method defining value diameter, optimal regard properties, ensure free operation proposed.
